Während absichtlich "unter NDA" verschwommen und markiert wurde, sind die Bilder mit dem Codename-Projektkupfer verbunden, das allgemein als interne Bezeichnung für das nicht angekündigte Twisted Metal Live-Service-Spiel ist.

Trotz der Geschichte von Twisted Metal als Fahrzeugkampf-Franchise, das aus dem PSONE stammt und seit der PlayStation 3-Ära nicht in den neuen Veröffentlichungen vorliegt, beschrieb der Entwickler das Projekt Kupfer als "ein Fahrzeug-Kampfspiel der dritten Person, das auf einer klassischen PlayStation-IP basierte und von Firesprite entwickelt wurde". Die Absage von Twisted Metal entspricht der offensichtlichen Skalierung der Live-Service-Spieleentwicklung nach einem signifikanten internen Druck in diese Richtung. Naughty Dog hörte im Dezember 2023 die Entwicklung in den letzten US-Online-Online-Online-Dingen ein, wobei das jahrelange Engagement für Inhalte nach dem Launch, die sich auf die Entwicklung des Single-Player-Spiels stark auswirken würden.

Im Januar hat Sony zwei weitere unangekündigte Live-Service-Spiele abgesagt: ein God of War -Titel von BluePoint und ein weiterer von Tagen Gone Developer Bend Studio.

Obwohl in naher Zukunft ein neues Twisted Metal -Spiel unwahrscheinlich erscheint, wird die Twisted Metal TV -Serie mit Anthony Mackie auf Peacock für Staffel 2 zurückkehren. Die Rezension von IGN über die erste Staffel verlieh ihm 8/10 und lobte es als "eine auf wundersame Weise angenehme Mischung aus Komödie, Gewalt und Nachdenklichkeit", obwohl sie gelegentlich über die Witze zu tun haben.
