Stardew Valley creator Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone hinted at the possibility of a Stardew Valley 2 in a recent interview.

However, during the same TigerBelly discussion, Barone noted that adding new content to the existing Stardew Valley is far simpler than building a new game from the ground up.

"All the core systems are already in place, which makes updates more enjoyable. I can focus on fun additions like green rain or other creative ideas," he explained.

"A Stardew Valley 2 could happen someday," Barone added, per Nintendo Life.

Barone also shared that he wants to move beyond being known solely as the Stardew Valley creator, which is why he’s developing Haunted Chocolatier. He cautioned, however, that the new game still requires significant work and must surpass the quality of Stardew Valley.
