Chinese Pooping Card Game: Rules and Scoring

Chinese Pooping, also known as Boerenbridge in Flanders, is an engaging card game where players predict and aim to achieve a specific number of tricks in each round. Here’s a detailed guide on how to play and keep track of points in this game.

Objective

The main goal of Chinese Pooping is to accurately predict the number of tricks you will win in a round and then achieve that number. Points are scored based on how well players meet their predictions.

Game Setup

• Players: Typically 3-6 players.
• Deck: A standard 52-card deck is used.
• Dealer: The dealer rotates clockwise after each round.

Game Rounds

1. Dealing Cards:

   • In the first round, each player receives 1 card.
   • In the second round, each player receives 2 cards, and so on.
   • The number of cards dealt increases by one each round until the maximum possible number of cards per player is reached (e.g., with 5 players, the maximum is 10 cards per player).
   • After reaching the maximum, the number of cards dealt decreases back to 1 card per player in the final round.

2. Bidding:

   • Starting from the player to the left of the dealer, each player predicts how many tricks they expect to win in that round.
   • The highest bidder determines the trump suit for that round.
   • The dealer, being the last to bid, must ensure that the total number of predicted tricks does not equal the total number of cards dealt in that round.

3. Playing the Round:

   • The player to the left of the dealer leads the first trick.
   • Players must follow suit if possible; if not, they can play any card.
   • The highest card of the led suit wins the trick unless trumped, in which case the highest trump card wins.

4. Scoring:

   • If a player exactly meets their predicted number of tricks, they score 10 points plus the number of tricks they predicted.
   • If a player does not meet their prediction, they lose 10 points.
   • If a player exceeds their prediction, they score only the number of tricks they actually won.

Example Scoring

• Player A predicts 2 tricks and wins 2 tricks: Scores 10 + 2 = 12 points.
• Player B predicts 3 tricks but wins 1 trick: Loses 10 points.
• Player C predicts 1 trick but wins 2 tricks: Scores 2 points.

End of Game

• The game continues through all rounds, from 1 card per player to the maximum and back to 1 card.
• The player with the highest total points at the end of the final round wins the game.
