A Classic Trick-Taking Card Game

Back Alley (also known as Back Alley Bridge) is an engaging card game with military roots, believed to have originated during World War II. This strategic game combines elements from bridge and spades, offering players a compelling trick-taking experience.

Gameplay Overview

The objective is to win tricks by accurately predicting how many tricks you can take each round. Players score points based on their bidding accuracy - the closer your trick count matches your bid (without overestimating), the higher your score. The game features progressive hands that start with:

  • Doubles play: Begins with 1-card hands
  • Singles play: Starts with 2-card hands

Hand sizes gradually increase by one card each round until reaching 13 cards, then decrease back down to the starting hand size. The player or team with the highest total score at the end wins.

Game Variations

Back Alley offers two distinct playing formats:

  • Doubles Version: 4 players (2 teams of 2)
  • Singles Version: 3 players (every player for themselves)

Special Features

After completing each deal, players can save their game progress for continued play later.
