"Escape from Death" is a 256,000-word interactive horror adventure novel by Tova Näslund. This experience is entirely text-based, with no graphics or sound effects, driven solely by the boundless power of your imagination.

In the material world, your body lingers between life and death, your heart still beating—yet your spirit has been torn away to the nightmarish Afterlife. This dark realm, under Death's absolute rule, is plagued by oppression and injustice. At the bottom are the Penitents: souls indebted to Death, magically twisted into uncanny human-animal hybrids. Above them are the Elect: those in Death's favor, living in freedom, privilege, and luxury.

Furthermore, the Afterlife is sinking into a deeper, more mysterious corruption. Performers have vanished from the luxurious entertainment district; a sanctuary for both Penitents and Elect is under siege; and a strange sickness is spreading across the land.

This chaos presents a grave danger—but also a unique opportunity. At the core of the Afterlife lies the Clockwork Hall, home to Death's Court and the repository of all souls. If you can navigate the turmoil and reach it, you can strike a blow to end Death's tyranny, find your way back to the living, or seize the throne of the Afterlife itself!
