Preparation for Children Going to the Hospital

"HC And - When mother or father has cancer" has been developed through a collaborative effort between the Oncology Department R, H.C. Andersen Children and Youth Hospital, Odense University Hospital, hospitalized children and their families, and 10:30 Visual Communication.

HC And is specifically designed as patient information for children aged 4-7 years. Its primary goal is to prepare these young children for their hospital experience and reduce their anxiety by familiarizing them with terms and procedures that might otherwise be completely unknown to them.

"HC And - When mother or father has cancer" serves as an introduction to the general cancer patient course at the hospital, tailored for the youngest children, their families, and friends. The content is delivered through a child's voice and engaging animations, falling within the genre of "Learning through play with tablet/mobile phone/touch screen."

Children in this age group thrive on learning and understanding through play and concrete information. As relatives of cancer patients, they can quickly become overwhelmed with a lot of information. To address this, HC And is structured into short, manageable sequences presented at a child's level, making it an ideal starting point for "newbies."
