The developers highlighted significant enhancements over the original release, yet a notable omission has sparked discussions: the absence of official mod support.
On Bethesda's support page, it's confirmed that Oblivion Remastered will not include official mod support. This decision comes without explanation, which is particularly striking given Bethesda's history of robust support for modding communities, including providing Creation Kits for games like Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Starfield.
Despite this setback, the modding community remains undeterred. Enthusiasts are currently using the old Creation Kit from the original game to bring their mods into the remastered version. On platforms like Reddit, modders are actively sharing tips and experiences on adapting to the new Unreal Engine 5 platform.
Oblivion Remastered on VR
Even without official mod support, the community's ingenuity shines through. Merely three hours after the game's release, fans began experimenting with Oblivion Remastered in VR using UEVR, a tool designed to adapt games for virtual reality. YouTuber LunchAndVR shared an early test video of the game running in VR, complete with motion controls.
The footage shows the game running smoothly at 70 fps on a setup featuring medium graphics settings, DLSS, a GeForce RTX 4090, and an Intel Core i9-13900 with 64GB of RAM. This promising start suggests that with further optimization, Oblivion Remastered could offer a compelling VR experience.
