In 7 Days To Die, players encounter various mission types, ranging from the straightforward buried treasure quests to the highly challenging infested missions. As you advance through the trader tiers, you'll unlock increasingly difficult tasks. Infested missions stand out as some of the most demanding, requiring players to clear buildings teeming with undead enemies.
These missions are not only challenging but also rewarding, offering substantial XP, valuable loot, and sometimes rare rewards. This guide will detail everything you need to know about successfully completing infested missions in 7 Days To Die.
How To Start An Infested Clear Mission
To initiate any mission, visit a trader. There are five traders on a standard map: Rekt, Jen, Bob, Hugh, and Joe. The choice of trader is less important than the mission's location and tier. Higher tiers mean tougher challenges, and the biome where the mission occurs can affect enemy difficulty. For instance, missions in the forest are less likely to have ferals compared to those in the Wasteland.
Infested missions become available after unlocking tier 2 missions, which requires completing 10 tier 1 missions. These missions are significantly harder than standard clear missions, featuring more and tougher zombies, including radiated zombies, cops, and ferals. Tier 6 infested clear missions are the most challenging in the game, but by the time you reach this level, you should be well-equipped. Regardless of the tier, the goal remains the same: eliminate all enemies within the designated area.
Completing An Infested Clear Mission
Upon reaching the point of interest (POI) for the mission, activate it by interacting with the marker in front of the building or area. Be aware that straying too far from the POI or dying during the mission will result in failure.
Each location in the game has a preferred path, marked by lighting such as torches or lanterns. To avoid traps and trigger points, which can cause events like floor collapses or zombie hordes, take an alternative route through the POI. Carrying building blocks can be crucial; they allow you to escape traps or access different parts of the building to surprise zombies.
During clear missions, activated zombies appear as red dots on your screen. The size of the dot indicates the zombie's proximity to you, helping you manage your approach and avoid being overwhelmed.
When it comes to killing zombies, targeting the head is key. However, certain zombies have unique abilities:
Zombie Type
Abilities
How To Handle Them
Cops
Spit toxic vomit and explode when injured
Watch for their head-throwing back before they spit. Seek cover and maintain distance to avoid their blast radius.
Spiders
Jump across large distances
Listen for their screeching sound before they jump. Use quick headshots once they're close.
Screamers
Scream to summon other zombies
Prioritize these to prevent a zombie swarm.
Demolition Zombies
Have a glowing explosive package taped to their chest
Avoid hitting their chest. If you do, run away when the explosive starts beeping.
In the final room of an infested clear mission, you'll find high-tier loot containers. Be cautious; this room often holds the most zombies. Ensure you're fully healed, your weapons are in good condition, and you know your escape route before entering. Always be aware of your surroundings; a quick exit might be necessary.
After clearing all zombies, your mission objective will update, requiring you to return to the trader for your reward. Don't forget to collect the valuable loot, including the infested cache, which contains additional ammo, magazines, and quality items.
Infested Clear Mission Rewards
Upon returning to the trader, you'll choose a reward, which is randomly determined. The quality and rarity of the rewards depend on several factors:
- Game Stage
- Loot Stage
- Tier Selection
- Skillpoint Selection
Your game stage increases naturally as you play, and your loot stage can be boosted with skills like Lucky Looter and the treasure hunter's mod. Higher mission tiers offer better rewards.
To maximize your rewards, invest in the A Daring Adventurer perk. This not only increases the Dukes you receive but also allows you to select two rewards at rank 4, which can be crucial for obtaining rare items like solar cells, crucibles, or legendary parts.
After claiming your rewards, consider selling any unwanted items to the trader. Each Duke earned from sales grants 1XP, and selling in bulk can quickly accumulate thousands of XP.
