Traditionally, *Assassin’s Creed* games modernize character dialogue, opting not to use native languages. *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* largely follows this pattern, with occasional native language dialogue from NPCs, but the bulk of the conversation remains in the player's chosen language.
Immersive Mode in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows* revolutionizes this approach by enhancing authenticity and historical accuracy. When activated, this mode locks the voiceover language to Japanese, reflecting the setting's historical context. Additionally, you'll hear Portuguese spoken by Jesuits and Yasuke during their interactions, adding another layer of realism.

Immersive Mode can be toggled on or off in the audio settings at any time, requiring only a reload to the last save for changes to take effect. Unlike Canon Mode, this setting does not lock you into a choice for the entire playthrough, making it risk-free to experiment with.
