*Atomfall* emphasizes player freedom, allowing you to tailor your journey through the game's story. Upon starting a new save, you'll encounter five distinct playstyle modes, each designed to cater to different player experiences:

  • Sightseer – Ideal for those who prefer a relaxed approach, focusing on the story without the pressure of combat or survival. Exploration, Survival, and Combat are set to 'Assisted' difficulty.
  • Investigator – Suited for players who enjoy exploring independently without HUD assistance, while keeping combat manageable. Exploration is set to 'Challenging', Survival to 'Casual', and Combat to 'Assisted'.
  • Brawler – Perfect for those who relish combat challenges, with more guided exploration and survival. Combat is set to 'Challenging', Survival to 'Casual', and Exploration to 'Assisted'.
  • Survivor – Recommended by the developers, this mode offers a balanced challenge across all aspects. Combat, Survival, and Exploration are all set to 'Challenging'.
  • Veteran – The toughest mode for players seeking the ultimate test in all areas. Combat, Survival, and Exploration are set to 'Intense'.

Choosing the right playstyle can be challenging at first. If your initial selection doesn't meet your expectations, you can change it without any penalties. Simply pause the game, go to 'Options', and under the 'Game' tab, select 'Playstyle'. You can adjust the difficulty of Combat, Survival, and Exploration to align with one of the preset playstyles or explore 'Advanced Options' for more detailed customization.

Which Atomfall Playstyle Should You Start With?

*Atomfall* is designed to provide a balanced experience, but the best choice depends on your personal enjoyment. If you're considering the five default playstyle options, starting with either **Investigator** or **Brawler** can help you gauge your comfort with the game's combat and exploration mechanics. These options allow you to adjust your experience further as needed.

For the ultimate personalized experience, consider creating a custom playstyle. This allows you to fine-tune every aspect of the game, from enemy behavior to exploration and bartering, to suit your preferences. Importantly, there are no achievements or trophies linked to specific difficulty levels, so you're free to change your playstyle as often as you like without any repercussions.

This guide covers all the playstyles available in *Atomfall*. For more tips and strategies, be sure to check out our additional content, including how to obtain a free Metal Detector early in the game.
