Blizzard Faces Backlash Over Free Overwatch 2 Skin After Paid Release

Blizzard has sparked controversy in Overwatch 2 again. After charging players for a new Lucio skin, the developers announced the next day it would be free.

The Cyber DJ skin, priced at $19.99 in the store, was later offered for free during an Overwatch 2 event. On February 12, viewers watching the Twitch broadcast for one hour could claim the skin at no cost.

Many players who bought the Cyber DJ skin before the announcement were frustrated to learn it was available for free. This has led to widespread criticism.

This isn’t the first time Blizzard has sold cosmetics only to offer them for free later in promotions. Players are now demanding refunds, calling the situation unfair. The skin has been removed from the store, but Blizzard has yet to address refund requests.

The Overwatch 2 Spotlight event is set for February 12. Blizzard promises to reveal new maps, heroes, and other content. Popular streamers will also visit the company’s headquarters to preview upcoming game updates.
