A new entry in the beloved Digimon video game series, titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, has seemingly leaked through GameStop just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation. Gematsu was quick to spot and share the listings for this mysterious project, providing store links that enable eager fans to pre-order copies for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While the GameStop pages currently lack any images or gameplay details, the official announcement may be imminent.
The timing of this leak is particularly intriguing, occurring just hours before Sony’s latest State of Play event. Although Sony hasn’t disclosed the lineup for the show, they have promised 40 minutes of content. With ample time for game reveals and the recent appearance of the Digimon Story: Time Stranger pre-order listings, it wouldn't be surprising if the digital monster series features prominently in the broadcast.
The Digimon Story series is no stranger to fans, having made its mark with the original Digimon Story for the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Since then, Bandai Namco has released numerous titles across various platforms, with recent highlights including 2015’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and 2017’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. A Complete Edition that bundled both Cyber Sleuth games was released in 2019.
In these games, players are immersed in the Digimon world, forming bonds with monsters and engaging in RPG battles. Despite franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teasing a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh installment. While titles like Digimon Survive have offered some respite, the potential arrival of Digimon Story: Time Stranger could mark the end of a long wait for a true continuation of the series.
