The developers behind Dungeonborne, an action-packed PvPvE game inspired by the widely popular Dark and Darker, have officially announced the conclusion of their support for the title and the subsequent shutdown of its servers. Despite its promising start, the project struggled to maintain player engagement throughout its short lifespan of less than a year. Low user activity and insufficient updates contributed significantly to its demise.
Currently, while Dungeonborne remains visible on Steam via a direct link, it is no longer searchable through the platform’s standard methods. While the exact reasons for this decision remain undisclosed, it is evident that the alarmingly low player numbers were a decisive factor. By late 2024, the game recorded fewer than 200 simultaneous players, with recent figures plummeting further to merely 10 to 15 active users.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled to close permanently on May 28, signaling the definitive end of the game's journey. Initially captivating fans of the genre, this ambitious project will ultimately fade away, leaving behind untapped potential and a lingering sense of what could have been.
