Nov 02,2025Author: Simon
After years of battling Ghouls in Fallout 76, players can now explore life as one. A new questline lets you decide if transforming into a Ghoul is right for you. So, is becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76 worth it?
How to Transform into a Ghoul in Fallout 76
To become a Ghoul in Fallout 76, you need to reach level 50 and start the “Leap of Faith” questline. This leads you to the Savage Divide, where you’ll meet characters who guide you through the transformation process. It’s straightforward, but becoming a Ghoul has both advantages and drawbacks.
Benefits of Being a Ghoul in Fallout 76
As a Ghoul, you unlock unique abilities like Feral and Glow. The Feral meter starts at 100% and decreases over time, but consuming Chems can restore it. Here’s what the Feral meter provides in Fallout 76:
Above 80%: +3 Strength, +3 Endurance, +30 Max HP
Above 60%: +15 Max HP
Above 40%: -1 Endurance, -5 Max HP
Above 20%: -3 Endurance, -15 Max HP, -10 Max AP
At 0%: +150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy
The Glow ability boosts your maximum health and lets you heal by embracing hazards like eating spoiled food or lingering in irradiated areas—actions typically avoided.
Ghouls also gain access to exclusive Perk cards, which complement standard human Perk cards, making them powerful upgrades. Plus, you’re immune to diseases and don’t need regular food while exploring.

Drawbacks of Being a Ghoul in Fallout 76
Becoming a Ghoul has its downsides. The “Leap of Faith” questline strains relations with some factions, which can complicate quests and gameplay. Losing Charisma also makes social interactions less enjoyable.
However, Fallout 76 offers a workaround. Jaye Vo, a new NPC in the “Leap of Faith” questline, provides disguises to help you navigate missions and avoid conflicts with hostile factions.
Is Becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76 Worth It?
Despite the challenges, the Ghoul transformation in Fallout 76 is packed with exciting features that make it hard to resist. If you change your mind, you can revert to human form via the Character screen, though this prevents completing the “Leap of Faith” questline. You can become a Ghoul again later for 1,000 Atoms.
Armed with this knowledge, head to the Savage Divide and unleash chaos in your new Ghoul form.
