Grand Mountain Adventure 2, the much-anticipated sequel to Toppluva's popular snowsports simulator, has landed in the hands of our dedicated App Army readers, who are always eager to dive into the world of extreme sports—albeit with a significantly reduced risk of real-world injuries. Here's what they had to say about their experience with this thrilling game.

At first, I found Grand Mountain Adventure 2 a bit frustrating. The controls took some getting used to, leading to a few chaotic spins and crashes into various objects. But once I got the hang of it, the game turned out to be quite enjoyable. It's packed with challenges, offering ample opportunities for snowboarding and skiing across various slopes, though you'll need to keep an eye out for other skiers who seem to be everywhere. With its impressive graphics and more depth than your typical downhill runner, this game has plenty to keep you engaged.

Grand Mountain Adventure 2 continues the open-world skiing and snowboarding adventure, picking up where its predecessor left off. What's great is how accessible it is, even for a winter sports novice like me. I've always been in awe of professional skiers performing incredible stunts in vibrant, neon gear, racing down mountains and slopes. With GMA2, I can now live those dreams. The game has a relaxed vibe from the start, allowing you to play at your own pace. There's an abundance of challenges and activities to discover, with new items to unlock at every turn. The environments are stunning, with details like falling snow and transitioning from day to night. The controls are intuitive, letting me pull off impressive tricks almost immediately, and the realistic movement of my character across the snow is a testament to the passion and love poured into the Grand Mountain Adventure series. This game is a must-have for any mobile gaming collection.

Grand Mountain Adventure 2 leans more towards an arcade-style ski and snowboarding experience rather than a serious simulation. From an overhead view, you guide your skier or snowboarder down various mountain courses. Completing challenges earns you passes that reveal new ski lifts, allowing you to ascend higher up the mountain. The game looks great, and the touch controls are responsive, making it easy to zoom down the slopes and execute jumps. The sound design, particularly the satisfying sound of slicing through snow, is simple yet effective. My only minor gripe is that the text can sometimes be hard to read, but that's more of a personal issue. Overall, I highly recommend this game.

As someone who enjoys skiing in real life, albeit infrequently, I was pleasantly surprised by how much you can do in Grand Mountain Adventure 2 without spending any money. This open-world (or open mountain?) experience lets you ski, snowboard, and even paraglide up and down the mountain. You can freely explore, seeking out events and challenges that reward you with ski points, which you can use to unlock more map features. Unlocking all the lifts is essential for ascending higher and accessing more challenges until you reach the summit, where a balloon awaits to transport you to another mountain (this part requires purchasing the full game). Exploring and using the map to locate glowing points or specific destinations is key, and you can set markers on the ground to follow red arrows to your chosen spot.

Later on, you'll unlock a backpack for more equipment and a telescope to admire the stunning mountain views. The game's graphics are impressive, and the sound of skis gliding through snow is remarkably realistic. The gameplay truly immerses you in the snowy environment. Some challenges transform into mini-games with different perspectives, reminiscent of classic games like Ski or Die on the Amiga 500. Available for free trial on the App Stores, this game is a no-brainer to try, offering so much content before deciding to buy the full version. Highly recommended.

The game boasts beautiful graphics, but when it comes to controls, more detailed interactive tutorials are essential, especially for casual gamers. As a simulation game, it can be challenging for casual players to master the controls. Perhaps the developers could introduce a basic control mode tailored for casual gamers, considering the mobile gaming market primarily consists of casual players.

Having played the first game briefly, I was impressed but never fully committed. However, the sequel has captured my attention, and I'm eager to spend more time with it. As someone who loves skiing but hasn't hit the slopes in years, Grand Mountain Adventure 2 evokes the perfect vibes of a Colorado ski resort. From the ski lifts and fellow skiers to the buildings, everything feels spot-on. You play as someone on a ski/snowboard trip at a massive mountain resort, with the freedom to ski on or slightly off the beaten path, though you must watch out for obstacles like structures, rocks, trees, and other skiers. The game's feel is fantastic, with a wealth of items and tricks to master and unlock. The detailed graphics and crisp sound effects, from the crunch of the snow to the impact sounds, enhance the experience. The controls have a short learning curve but work well. I can't wait to spend more time on this game, which feels like a delightful escape to a ski vacation.

Though not a huge fan of skiing, I found Grand Mountain Adventure 2 to be an excellent simulation. The controls required some adjustment, but once mastered, they were quite effective. Navigating uphill was sometimes a struggle, tempting me to just take off my skis and walk, but it was a useful exercise to get accustomed to the controls. I enjoyed the ski runs, though initially, I collided with people, trees, animals, and fences. With practice, my skills improved. The scenery and graphics were delightful, with many small details to appreciate. I highly recommend trying the demo, as it's likely you'll want to purchase the full version.

I never got around to playing the first Grand Mountain Adventure, but GMA2 immediately caught my attention with its stunning graphics and attention to detail, right down to the tracks left in the snow. After a few hours of play, I'm slowly improving. To progress, you must complete goals to unlock new areas, though it can be a bit confusing to know where to go next. Thankfully, the map is very helpful, and features like holding down the screen to speed up the chair lift are convenient. The controls are straightforward, with additional moves unlocked as you progress. Finding the backpack allows you to collect more equipment. The game is challenging but compels you to keep trying to get better. I'm still working on flips and spins, but it reminds me of Alto’s Odyssey in an open-world setting, making it uniquely challenging. I'm thoroughly enjoying the game and look forward to exploring more to unlock additional areas. Two thumbs up.
