The Nintendo Switch 2 wouldn't be complete without a new Zelda title, and the latest Nintendo Direct delivered just that, albeit in a surprising form. Koei Tecmo is set to release a new installment in the Hyrule Warriors series titled "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment," which serves as a prequel to "Tears of the Kingdom." Fans can look forward to this exciting addition hitting the shelves this winter.
"Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment" introduces players to the rich tapestry of ancient Hyrule, featuring characters from the historical segments of "Tears of the Kingdom." Alongside Zelda, players will encounter Rauru, Sonia, and other Secret Stone holders. The game explores Zelda's journey after she travels back in time, where she allies with the last Zonai, Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia, to combat Ganondorf and his forces.

The trailer showcased the unique abilities of these champions, including Mineru piloting a mech, Zelda wielding her magic, Rauru brandishing a striking sword-spear, and brief appearances by other Sacred Stone wielders.
This marks the third entry in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original "Hyrule Warriors" and "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity," which served as a prequel to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild." "Age of Calamity" notably offered a fresh take on the events leading up to "Breath of the Wild," earning high praise with a 9/10 score for being "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish." It will be fascinating to see if "Age of Imprisonment" follows suit with its own unique narrative twists.
