The phenomenal success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues unabated, as the game has now surpassed 2 million copies sold in less than two weeks. Developer Warhorse Studios proudly announced this achievement on Twitter, describing it as a "triumph" following their celebration of reaching 1 million sales just a day after the game's launch.
This remarkable achievement underscores the strong performance of Warhorse Studios' medieval Europe action role-playing game sequel, which hit the shelves on February 4 and is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
Last week, Embracer, the parent company of Warhorse Studios, highlighted that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 had achieved significant success on Steam, boasting over 250,000 peak concurrent players. To put this into perspective, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance reached a peak of 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago.
It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely higher, considering its launch on consoles as well as PC. However, Sony and Microsoft do not disclose player numbers publicly.
Embracer, through its subsidiary Plaion, praised Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 for its strong initial success, which extends beyond player and critic reception to include impressive performance metrics.
Lars Wingefors, CEO of Embracer, commended the efforts of Warhorse Studios and their publisher, Deep Silver, stating, “This reflects the dedication and hard work of our development studio, Warhorse Studios, and our publisher, Deep Silver.”
Wingefors further expressed confidence in the game's long-term revenue potential, citing its exceptional quality, immersion, and appeal. He noted Warhorse Studios' comprehensive roadmap, which includes updates and new content over the next 12 months, designed to keep the community engaged and the experience evolving.
“We are immensely proud of the teams involved in the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has significantly outperformed our expectations so far,” Wingefors added.
Looking ahead, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's post-launch roadmap is packed with exciting content. In 2025, players can expect three expansions. The spring will bring free updates, including a Barbers feature for additional customization, Hardcore Mode, and Horse Racing. The summer will introduce the first paid content, Brushes with Death, where protagonist Henry assists a mysterious artist with a shadowy past.
Come autumn, the Legacy of the Forge expansion will delve into Henry’s past by exploring his adoptive father Martin’s history. Finally, the winter will see the release of Mysteria Ecclesia, where Henry undertakes a covert mission to navigate the intricate dynamics of the Sedlec Monastery.
