Marvel Rivals Upcoming Changes
New Heroes Every Month

In a bid to keep the game as dynamic and engaging as it was at launch, NetEase has announced a significant shift in their content release strategy for Marvel Rivals. Starting from Season 3, the game will see the introduction of new heroes every month, rather than the initial plan of two heroes per season. This news was shared by Marvel Rivals' Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong during the Dev Vision Vol. 05 on April 4, alongside plans to adjust the length of each season.
The developers have decided to shorten each season from three months to two, allowing for a more rapid pace of new hero releases. Guangguang stated, "After extensive internal discussions and thorough evaluation, we’ve decided that starting from Season 3, the seasons will shift to a two-month format, with a new hero debuting each month."

Guangguang acknowledged the pressure from social media discussions to maintain the game's excitement level, which has been high since its December launch. The team is also considering the addition of new game modes to further enhance player engagement, which could be introduced later. With these changes, Marvel Rivals could potentially see up to 12 new heroes added annually.
While this ambitious plan poses challenges, especially in terms of hero balancing, Guangguang highlighted the team's approach to these issues in an interview with PC Gamer on March 14. He emphasized the use of key metric data across all game modes, including pick rates, win rates, stats, and abilities, as the foundation for their balancing efforts.
Season 2 Details and Future Plans

The Dev Vision also shed light on Season 2, dubbed the Hellfire Gala, where Marvel Heroes are invited by the new hero Emma Frost to explore the Mutant sanctuary of Living Island Krakoa. Emma Frost, known as an X-Men villain with telepathic powers and the ability to transform objects into diamonds, will join the game as a Vanguard.
The Hellfire Gala promises a lavish celebration, with the trailer showcasing new skins for characters like Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther, all dressed in elegant formal attire. This season is inspired by Marvel’s Hellfire Club, a prestigious society of the wealthy and influential, known for their control over global events.

Following Emma Frost's debut, Season 2.5 will introduce Ultron, another iconic Marvel villain. The Hellfire Gala trailer teases Ultron's arrival, as his robots disrupt the party, heralding the beginning of the Age of Ultron. Further details about Ultron's integration into the game are yet to be disclosed.
Thor’s Lord of Asgard and Hawkeye’s Ronin Skins Available Now!
Marvel Rivals took to Twitter (X) on April 4 to announce the availability of new skins for Thor and Hawkeye. Thor's Lord of Asgard skin, inspired by his revival by Odin in the comics, comes bundled with the Rune King costume, spray, nameplate, The Omniscient MVP, and Well of Mimir emote. Meanwhile, Hawkeye's Ronin skin, reflecting his time as a vigilante samurai, includes the Ronin skin, spray, nameplate, Deadly Rain MVP, and Hone to Perfection emote.
