NieR: Automata - Optimize Farming for Machine Arms

Efficiently Acquiring Machine Arms in NieR: Automata

NieR: Automata presents players with a substantial crafting system, requiring numerous materials to upgrade weapons and pods. While many materials become more readily available later, acquiring them early can significantly boost your character's strength. Machine Arms are a particularly rare crafting component. This guide details the best strategies for obtaining them.

Farming Machine Arms: Early Game Strategies

Machine Arms have a low drop chance from defeated small machines. The drop rate increases with enemy level, making them scarce early on. To improve your yield, focus on quickly eliminating large numbers of machines.

Post-Chapter 4, a highly effective farming location unlocks. After your first encounter with Adam, the arena where the fight takes place becomes a continuous respawn point for numerous small machines. Access this area via the Desert: Housing Complex fast travel point and proceed into the ruins.

While the machines here aren't high-level, resulting in a low Machine Arm drop rate, the constant respawning makes it the most efficient early-game farming method. This location is also excellent for Titanium Alloy farming. A Drop Rate Plug-In Chip can slightly increase your chances, but the improvement is modest.

Purchasing Machine Arms: Late Game Option

(Spoiler Warning: The following information pertains to the final playthrough and may reveal plot details.)

During the final playthrough as A2, after eliminating the robots in Pascal's village, you can choose to erase Pascal's memories. This action transforms Pascal into a merchant, accessible until the game's conclusion. Pascal sells various machine parts, including Machine Arms, at the following prices:

  • Machine Heads: 15,000 G
  • Machine Arm: 1,125 G
  • Machine Leg: 1,125 G
  • Machine Torso: 1,125 G
  • Machine Head: 1,125 G (Note: Duplicate entry in original text)
  • Children's Cores: 30,000 G

This provides a reliable, albeit late-game, source for Machine Arms.
