Cloud gaming is taking the gaming world by storm, offering high-fidelity gameplay virtually anywhere and on any device. Xbox's "This is an Xbox" campaign highlights this trend, but Krafton is pushing boundaries with the introduction of PUBG Mobile Cloud. This new version of the popular battle royale game is now in soft launch in the US and Malaysia, promising a gaming experience free from hardware limitations and overheating issues.
PUBG Mobile Cloud is available as a standalone download on Google Play, designed to eliminate the technical constraints typically associated with mobile gaming. By leveraging cloud technology, players can enjoy the game without the need to download or run any local programs. Essentially, the heavy lifting is done by remote servers, allowing for a seamless gaming experience.
This move into cloud gaming could significantly expand PUBG's reach, making it accessible to a broader audience. Unlike many cloud gaming services that are part of larger subscriptions, PUBG Mobile Cloud stands out as a standalone experience. However, the game's page still lists a range of device requirements, which might be aimed at players whose phones struggle with the standard version of PUBG Mobile.
While it's unclear how niche PUBG Mobile Cloud will become, its potential to cater to players with less powerful devices is undeniable. As the soft launch progresses, a global rollout seems likely, further cementing cloud gaming's place in the industry.
