High-end prebuilt PCs can be pricey, but savvy shoppers can still snag incredible deals. Currently, Dell is offering a massive $1,000 off on the Alienware Aurora R16 equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090, bringing the price down to $3,699.99. With the RTX 4090 graphics card prices on the rise, costing over $2,000 for a standalone unit, building your own PC might not be the cost-effective choice you think it is. Plus, opting for a prebuilt system like this one comes with the added benefit of an all-inclusive warranty.
Alienware Aurora R16 i9-14900KF RTX 4090 Gaming PC

$4,694.99 save 21% $3,699.99 at Alienware
This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC packs a punch with an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 64GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a whopping 4TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF stands as the top-tier gaming and productivity CPU available today. Despite its tendency to run hot, it's kept cool by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a reliable 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
The RTX 4090 remains unrivaled as the most potent GPU on the market. In his review, Chris Coke raves, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this setup, you can play any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, achieving high frame rates, even with demanding titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. It's also the go-to choice for AI applications, thanks to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.
A note on RTX 5000 series GPUs
NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5000 series GPUs, set to launch by the end of January, will undoubtedly offer more power. However, expect to pay a premium, with the RTX 5090 Founder's Edition priced at $2,000 and potential availability issues. The RTX 5080 will start at $999, but it may also face stock shortages. While we'll soon benchmark this new series, note that it will come with less VRAM than the RTX 4090 (16GB vs 24GB), likely not dethroning the 4090 as the dominant second-tier card.
A note on Alienware's newest "R16" desktop chassis
The Alienware Aurora R16, introduced in 2024, boasts a 40% smaller design compared to previous models. Its efficient airflow system draws in air through side intake vents and a 120mm front fan, exhausting it via a rear 120mm fan and two top-mounted 120mm fans. The 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system is integrated with these top fans. While some configurations might not include this liquid cooling, it's a feature we highly recommend due to its superior performance over stock air cooling. Dell's recent CES 2025 reveal of the new Area 51 chassis shows a design very similar to the R16.
