The highly anticipated Shrek 5 has just revealed its new cast and a captivating teaser trailer, sparking reactions from fans and even catching the attention of Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's updated appearance. In a humorous twist, the Sonic Movie account on TikTok shared a self-deprecating video offering "advice for green ogres." The clip humorously contrasts Movie Sonic's initial infamous live-action design with the much-improved version released later, playfully advising Shrek on his makeover.

IGN provided the exclusive first look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, which received mixed feedback, particularly regarding Sonic's teeth, physique, tiny eyes, and human-like fingers. The backlash led director Jeff Fowler to revise the controversial design, resulting in a much more authentic and better-received version of the character.
Although Shrek's new look hasn't stirred quite the same level of controversy as Sonic's initial live-action design, Sonic's playful response on social media has delighted fans. Comments like "You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice" and "No way they actually posted this" with a crying emoji reflect the amusement and surprise among the fanbase.
Originally announced in 2016, the fifth Shrek movie had been quiet for years until Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, confirmed its active development in 2023. Alongside plans for a Donkey spin-off, Universal Pictures has set the release of Shrek 5 for December 23, 2026, after a slight delay to accommodate the release of the Despicable 3 spin-off, Minions 3, in its original slot.
