Application Description

Transform your device into a versatile, portable display for your camera, gaming console, laptop, PC, or any other device with HDMI output using an HDMI to USB C dongle, known as a UVC capture device or Video Capture Card. This is not to be confused with a USB C hub or a USB C to HDMI cable. Additionally, cameras, endoscopes, and microscopes that feature USB streaming are fully compatible with this setup.

Noir enhances your experience by supporting UVC video streaming and UAC audio streaming, with options for OpenGL ES or Vulkan as the graphics backend. The free version provides basic functions and an immersive experience, albeit with ads outside of the preview area. Opt for the pro version to unlock advanced features and contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of Noir.

**FAQ**

  1. Why doesn't Noir recognize my device?
Possible reasons include your phone or tablet not supporting USB Host (OTG) or the connected device not being a Video Capture Card. In some cases, your device may not supply enough power for the capture card, requiring a USB hub for additional power.

  2. Why is the preview so laggy?
Lag often results from the USB version used. Ensure you're using USB 3.0 compatible cables and ports with a USB 3.0 capture card. For USB 2.0 cards, stick to the MJPEG video format and don't exceed 1080p30fps, though some can handle up to 1080p50fps.

  3. Why did my capture card, which was working fine, suddenly fail to connect?
This issue is typically due to system problems. A simple restart of your phone or tablet can often resolve this.

  4. Why does my gaming console or Video playback device show a black screen when connected?
This issue is common with PS5 and PS4 due to HDCP being enabled. Disable HDCP on your PS console by navigating to Settings -> System -> HDMI and turning off "Enable HDCP". Note that PS3 does not support this. Other devices may also enable HDCP for video content, leading to a black screen. Some HDMI splitters can bypass HDCP, but this solution is not recommended here.

  5. Why are resolutions other than 16:9 and 4:3 not supported?
No capture cards currently support ratios other than these. Use Noir's Stretch feature to adjust to your desired ratio, ensuring your capture card's EDID supports it and setting your laptop or PC's output to match.
