Dragon Age The Veilguard game director leaves BioWare, players expect studio to shut down

Contrary to initial impressions, the recent success of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been overshadowed by unsettling news regarding BioWare. Online speculation, fueled by sources described as "agenda fighters," claimed the closure of BioWare Edmonton and the departure of the game's director.

Eurogamer journalists have corroborated at least part of this information, confirming the departure of Corinne Boucher in the coming weeks. Boucher, an 18-year EA veteran, primarily worked on the Sims franchise.

However, Eurogamer remains uncertain about the alleged closure of BioWare's Dragon Age development team. Claims of a shutdown remain purely speculative.

Critical reception of The Veilguard has been mixed. While some hail it as a triumphant return to form for BioWare, others consider it a solid, albeit unremarkable, RPG. At the time of writing, Metacritic shows no negative reviews.

Many reviewers lauded the game's engaging and dynamic action RPG gameplay, particularly challenging at higher difficulty levels. Yet, other outlets, such as VGC, criticized the gameplay as feeling outdated and lacking innovation. This divergence in opinion highlights the complexities of evaluating The Veilguard's overall impact.
