"Disney+ Era Marvel TV Shows Ranked"

Apr 09,2025 Author: David

From the iconic Incredible Hulk TV series to the gripping Netflix shows featuring street-level heroes like Daredevil and Luke Cage, Marvel Comics have long been a powerhouse of inspiration for television adaptations. While earlier attempts to integrate these TV shows into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) often faced challenges—think of the less-remembered series like Runaways and Cloak and Dagger—2021 marked a pivotal shift. Marvel Studios launched a new era by filling Disney+ with series that are intricately woven into the fabric of their renowned multi-billion dollar film franchise.

As we welcome the charming Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to our screens as the 13th Disney+ Marvel show in just four years, it's an opportune moment to reflect on the Marvel Studios television journey so far. In true Avengers style, the Marvel enthusiasts at IGN have assembled, debated, and ranked the 12 Disney+ Marvel TV shows released to date. Keep an eye out for the addition of Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man to this list once the series concludes.

12. Secret Invasion

Disney+

It's surprising to see a series based on the monumental comic event Secret Invasion rank at the bottom of our list. In the comics, Secret Invasion is a landmark story, yet the TV adaptation fell short of expectations. Director Ali Selim's approach, which notably distanced itself from the source material, resulted in a series that failed to capture the essence of the original narrative. The show attempted to channel the espionage vibe of Captain America: The Winter Soldier but was hindered by slow pacing, an AI-generated opening, and the abrupt handling of key characters, including a beloved female character's demise. Coupled with an odd, seemingly one-off superpowered character, Secret Invasion ranks as the least favored in the MCU's Disney+ lineup.

11. Echo

Disney+

Echo marks a significant jump in quality from Secret Invasion, landing in the 11th spot. Alaqua Cox reprises her role as the deaf Cheyenne superhero Echo from Hawkeye, bringing to life a story filled with action and personal struggle as she returns to her reservation. Despite its shortened episode count, which left some fans wanting more, Echo delivers powerful action sequences, notably an opening fight against Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). The series also stands out for its groundbreaking portrayal of indigenous talent both in front of and behind the camera, making it a unique and emotionally resonant addition to the MCU.

10. Moon Knight

Disney+

Despite starring the talented Oscar Isaac, Moon Knight finds itself lower in our rankings than many expected. The series delves into the complex psyche of Marc Spector, blending elements of psychological thriller with action-packed sequences. It introduces intriguing characters like Scarlet Scarab (May Calamawy) and features strong performances from F. Murray Abraham and Ethan Hawke. However, Moon Knight struggled to make a significant impact on our voters, failing to secure a second season despite its ambitious storytelling.

9. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Disney+

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, promised high-flying action but instead leaned heavily on espionage and moral complexities. As the second Marvel series to debut on Disney+, it faced challenges from the global health crisis that affected its production schedule. Despite these hurdles, the series offers essential narrative elements to the MCU, particularly influencing the upcoming Thunderbolts film. The chemistry between the leads was a highlight, but the show's focus on the Blip's aftermath and less action than anticipated left some fans wanting more.
