Nintendo Switch 2 Upgrades Announced for Breath of the Wild, Metroid Prime 4

During today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, Nintendo unveiled exciting news for gamers: nearly the entire Nintendo Switch library will be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, a select group of popular titles will receive enhanced "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" versions, complete with unique features. This includes fan-favorites like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Mario Party: Jamboree.

Each Nintendo Switch 2 Edition game comes with its own set of upgrades. For instance, Super Mario Party: Jamboree introduces "Jamboree TV," featuring innovative mouse controls, audio recognition, enhanced rumble feedback, and gameplay that utilizes a new camera accessory.

For Zelda enthusiasts, both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will boast improved resolution and framerate, alongside HDR support. Players can also benefit from Zelda Notes, a new service within the Nintendo Switch Online app, offering voice guidance for locating Shrines and Koroks, and the ability to share creations in Tears of the Kingdom via QR codes with friends.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is set to expand with a new story exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, dubbed Star-Crossed World, along with enhanced graphics and framerates.

New releases, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Pokemon Legends: Z-A, are also getting upgraded versions. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will support mouse controls, 4K resolution at 60fps, and HDR, while Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature improved resolution and framerates.

These upgraded editions will be available in both physical and digital formats. Owners of the original versions on the Nintendo Switch can purchase upgrade packs for select titles, including Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, Mario Party, and Kirby.

The Direct also highlighted third-party titles receiving Nintendo Switch 2 Editions, such as Civilization 7, which will include mouse support, and Street Fighter 6, which will offer exclusive game modes for the Switch 2.
