The Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration 2025 unveiled exciting details about Season 2, including a first glimpse of Rory McCann as Baylan Skoll, insights into the series’ creation, and more. Here’s a complete breakdown of the major announcements.
While no footage or release date for Season 2 was shared, the panel offered hints about what’s in store for the upcoming episodes. Let’s dive into the highlights.
Rory McCann Debuts as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka Season 2
Star Wars Celebration showcased Rory McCann stepping into the role of Baylan Skoll for Ahsoka Season 2, following the passing of Ray Stevenson.
Stevenson’s death came just months before Ahsoka’s premiere, yet his portrayal of Baylan resonated deeply with fans.
Dave Filoni, the series creator, reflected on the challenge of continuing without Stevenson, describing him as “a remarkable presence on and off screen.” Filoni expressed confidence that the new direction honors Stevenson’s legacy.
Filoni emphasized Baylan’s role as Ahsoka’s counterpart, noting that Stevenson’s iconic performance provided a clear foundation for the character. He also praised McCann’s commitment to respecting Stevenson’s portrayal.
Hayden Christensen Confirmed to Return as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2
Star Wars Celebration confirmed that Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2, building on his pivotal appearance in Season 1.
While details about Anakin’s role remain scarce, Christensen shared his excitement during the panel, highlighting the creative approach to exploring the World Between Worlds.
“It was an incredible experience,” Christensen said. “The way they brought this story to life was brilliant, and I loved diving into that realm.”
Filoni humorously noted that he “created entire dimensions” to bring Christensen back as Anakin, underscoring the significance of the character’s return.
Christensen also expressed enthusiasm for portraying a version of Anakin inspired by the Clone Wars, a departure from his prequel-era Jedi robes.
“The animated world set the stage, but bringing that to live-action was thrilling,” he said. “It was exciting to see Anakin in a fresh light.”
Familiar Faces Set to Return in Ahsoka Season 2
Although no full trailer was shown, the panel offered a sneak peek at Season 2 through a series of still images, confirming the return of Sabine, Ezra, Zeb, and Chopper.
The panel also revealed that Admiral Ackbar will play a significant role, facing off against Grand Admiral Thrawn. Fans can also look forward to charming Loth-Kittens and, as Filoni teased, “X-Wings, A-Wings, and some surprises we’re keeping under wraps.”
No premiere date for Ahsoka on Disney+ was announced, but production is set to begin next week, with scripts still being refined.
The panel also shared fascinating details about Ahsoka’s development, inspirations, and the creative process from the team behind it. Filoni revealed that Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki, particularly Princess Mononoke, inspired elements of the series, including Ahsoka’s iconic wolf fang markings.
Joined by Jon Favreau and Rosario Dawson, Filoni discussed how Ahsoka transitioned from animation to live-action. The journey began after The Mandalorian’s first season, when Filoni and Favreau brainstormed new stories to explore.
Filoni’s deep connection to Ahsoka Tano, a character he co-created with George Lucas, led to her live-action debut in The Mandalorian Season 2.
Dawson shared her excitement about being cast as Ahsoka, recalling how Filoni and Favreau presented her with concept art during a video call. “I had to mute myself because I was screaming with joy,” she said.
Initially, Dawson’s appearance was planned as a one-off, as the team was uncertain about sustaining Ahsoka in live-action long-term.

“Even if it was just that one moment, I was so thankful,” Dawson said. “The fan support that carried this story forward was a dream come true.”
Ahsoka’s journey has since expanded far beyond that initial appearance, proving the character’s enduring appeal.
“Incorporating characters like Bo-Katan allowed us to build on Dave and George’s animated legacy while advancing existing storylines,” Favreau said.
Favreau likened Ahsoka to A New Hope, noting that it drops viewers into the middle of her journey, with rich history and future potential to explore.
Dawson expressed her excitement about uncovering more of Ahsoka’s story. “I didn’t know where this character would go in live-action,” she said. “Exploring her fears, her distance, and her reluctance to mentor was such a rewarding experience.”
