Caldarus, the enigmatic dragon-turned-human, is now a romanceable character in *Fields of Mistria*—thanks to the highly anticipated March 2025 update. If you're eager to unlock his unique story arc, deepen your bond through meaningful interactions, and enjoy a special date under the stars, you're in the right place. Below, we’ve streamlined everything you need to know: how to unlock Caldarus’ romance path, what to expect from his heart events (so far), and exactly which gifts will make him smile—or cringe.

How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To begin Caldarus’ romance questline, head to Floor 60 of the Mines and locate the Fire Seal. There, you’ll need to offer four specific items:

• Sealing Scroll
• Faceted Rock Gem
• Emerald
• Rockroot

Once placed, a cutscene triggers: the Mines Priestess warns you to leave or risk being sealed—but before it’s too late, Caldarus intervenes in human form, saving you and bestowing the Dragon’s Breath spell. He then retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods.

From this point forward, Caldarus becomes fully interactive—he can receive gifts, engage in daily conversations, and be romanced like any other NPC. To access his temple permanently, use the Dragon’s Breath spell to unlock the area on your map.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

As of the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts at six hearts—the current cap—meaning no additional heart events are available yet. However, two key cutscenes unfold naturally:

1. A dream sequence early in the game that introduces Mistria’s magical mechanics.
2. The dramatic rescue after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus reveals his human form and withdraws to recover.

The Shooting Star Festival – Your Date with Caldarus

Held annually on Summer 28, the Shooting Star Festival lets players take any romanceable NPC with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit. Since Caldarus begins at six hearts, you’re automatically eligible.

To trigger the event:

• Gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28.
• Meet up afterward to begin the cutscene.

During your date, Caldarus expresses gratitude, reflects on the stars, and discusses the ancient Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. Dialogue choices let you explore themes of connection, fate, and even melancholy—yes, there’s some subtle foreshadowing. When he grows tired, he invites you to continue stargazing at his temple, sealing the moment with quiet intimacy.
