Prime Video's Butterfly, adapted from BOOM! Studios' graphic novel by Arash Amel, is a gripping spy-thriller exploring family ties amidst the perilous world of global espionage.
"The story follows David Jung (Kim), a mysterious former US intelligence operative in South Korea, whose life unravels when past decisions resurface, drawing him into a deadly chase with Rebecca (Hardesty), a lethal young agent tasked with his elimination, and the shadowy Caddis organization," the official synopsis reveals.
“Butterfly fulfills my vision of uniting American and Korean storytelling, creating a series that bridges two cultures I cherish,” said Kim. “I’m thrilled with our talented cast and crew, and I’m grateful to Ken Woodruff, Boom! Studios, 3AD, Amazon, and all who brought this project to life.”
Ken Woodruff, known for The Mentalist and Gotham, serves as showrunner and co-creator alongside novelist Steph Cha. The cast also includes Kim Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo, Kim Tae-hee, Charles Parnell, Sean Dulake, and Nayoon Kim, with Sung Dong-il and Lee Il-hwa in guest roles.
Woodruff and Cha are executive producers alongside Kim, John Cheng for 3AD, Stephen Christy and Ross Richie for BOOM! Studios, and Arash Amel for The Amel Company.
