A Decade-Long Development

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Confirms Release Date Announcement and Gameplay Reveal

Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s development has been a lengthy and complex journey, with numerous postponements delaying the release date by almost a decade. Development commenced in 2015, after the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare’s attention turned to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, diverting resources and personnel from the project—then known as "Joplin." Furthermore, as the original design didn’t conform to the company’s emphasis on live-service games, development was completely suspended.

It wasn’t until 2018 that The Veilguard was restarted under the codename "Morrison." After years of development, the game was officially revealed as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before receiving its current name.

Despite these challenges, the anticipation is almost at an end. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is poised to launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this autumn. However, prepare yourselves, for the wait for Thedas is about to significantly decrease.
