Formovie Episode One Hardware Review: Projection Paradise?

May 27,2025 Author: Julian

At Droid Gamers, we often receive an array of tech gadgets, but a projector is a novelty for us. The Formovie Episode One, with its capability to stream mobile games onto a larger screen, caught our attention as a promising piece of technology to review.

Designed with budget-conscious consumers in mind, the Episode One offers an affordable entry into the world of projectors. While it comes with its own set of challenges, it certainly meets its primary goal of providing a cost-effective solution. Upon unboxing, you'll find the projector itself, a remote (note that batteries are not included), a power cable, and a manual. Though it may not have the robust feel of higher-end models, its weight of just three pounds enhances its portability, making it an excellent choice for those on the move.

One potential downside is the limited number of ports, featuring only one USB-A port, one HDMI port, and a single audio jack. However, given its price point, this setup should suffice for the majority of users.

In terms of performance, the Episode One holds up admirably for its cost. With 150 ISO lumens, it may not be the brightest projector on the market, particularly struggling in direct sunlight. Yet, it excels in darker environments, delivering clear visuals for movies, TV shows, and streamed games. To achieve the best image quality, we recommend positioning the projector at least 10 feet away from the screen. The built-in speaker, while functional, produces a somewhat tinny sound, suggesting the use of an external speaker for an enhanced audio experience.

The user interface of the Episode One is commendable, especially within its price range. Its straightforward design simplifies setup and operation, making it more user-friendly than some pricier alternatives.

Overall, the Formovie Episode One is an ideal entry-level projector. It may not excel in any single aspect, but it provides a reliable all-around performance that should satisfy the needs of most casual users.

*When you purchase an Episode One projector before May 27th, you'll receive a Netflix gift card valued at $15/€15. Click here to take advantage of this offer.*
