Milly Alcock, the Australian actress renowned for her portrayal of the young Rhaenyra Targaryen in the acclaimed Game of Thrones spinoff, "House of the Dragon," faced an unexpected challenge early in her tenure on the show. On her second day of filming, a high-ranking individual on the set suggested she undergo acting coaching. Reflecting on the experience during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, Alcock admitted she was "mortified" by the feedback. However, she humorously acknowledged that the incident served as a humbling reminder, jokingly stating, "It just confirmed everything that I’ve kind of known to be true, [which] is that I’m not very good at my job. You know what I mean! I was like, ‘I can’t do this. This is terrible. This is a big mistake.’"
Despite this rocky start, Alcock's performance as King Viserys I Targaryen's daughter and heir has been well-received. She played the character as a series regular in Season 1 and made a guest appearance in Season 2, which chronicles the decline of the House Targaryen. The role of the adult Rhaenyra is portrayed by Emma D’Arcy, who depicts her journey to becoming Queen.
House of the Dragon premiered in August 2022, shortly after the conclusion of the original Game of Thrones series. The show's success was immediate, securing a second season renewal just days after its debut and a third season in June 2024, even before the second season began. This swift progression underscores the series' popularity, culminating in a Golden Globe win for Best Television Series — Drama.
Looking ahead, Alcock is set to take on the role of Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in the upcoming Superman film this summer and in the 2025 release, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. As for the third season of House of the Dragon, while it is confirmed to be in the works, an official release date has yet to be announced.
