NetEase's Sea of Remnants to Launch on Multiple Platforms

  • Sea of Remnants is the latest teased title from NetEase
  • The game features a musical style and pirate-themed setting
  • While details remain scarce, there's plenty of room for speculation

Not long ago, NetEase was widely considered a least favorite company, particularly in its home country of China. Often perceived as prioritizing profit over enjoyable gameplay, the company has experienced a remarkable shift in public perception. This change has been partly driven by the success of recent titles like Marvel Rivals and Once Human. Now, they've released a fresh nautical teaser for what could become their next major success: Sea of Remnants.

What exactly is it? We don't have all the details yet. However, we do know the game will feature a toy-like visual style, take place on the high seas, and embrace the classic swashbuckling adventure spirit reminiscent of Errol Flynn films.

Whether it will be turn-based, open-world, or something completely different remains unclear. The teaser trailer itself showcases a rich, vibrant aesthetic and numerous intriguing locations for your unique action-figure characters to discover.

ytBeyond the horizon

Considering NetEase's ambitious approach with recent releases and the game's title, it wouldn't be surprising if Sea of Remnants aims to replicate the success of Sea of Thieves. The open-world pirate RPG niche has served Rare extremely well, and despite competitors like Skull & Bones, no one has managed to surpass them.

If any company can take an existing concept and refine it with better execution and more impressive presentation, NetEase might just succeed. After all, they achieved this by challenging Overwatch with Marvel Rivals—a feat that once seemed nearly impossible.

In the RPG genre, however, NetEase would face intense competition from numerous outstanding releases. Need proof? Explore our list of the top 25 best RPGs on Android and iOS to discover incredible new games that only hint at the vast options available!
