For instance, the Illustration Rare Bulbasaur is depicted hiding amidst giant leaves, reminiscent of a Ghibli film. Alakazam ex, on the other hand, looks like it's conducting psychic research in a cluttered study, adding a unique charm to the card.
One of the standout features of this set is how it seamlessly integrates art with gameplay without feeling forced. Cards like Blastoise ex offer strong abilities while maintaining gallery-worthy aesthetics. Even Charmander has been given a boost, with its new version featuring 70 HP, which can withstand minor damage that would have previously taken it out. This subtle enhancement reflects the thoughtful design throughout the set.
While not every card hits the mark—Zapdos ex, for example, is merely satisfactory—the overall quality remains high. Venusaur ex excels in both function and style, and Squirtle's artwork successfully places the character within a believable ecosystem. The attention to detail in these designs is commendable.
Paying above MSRP isn't ideal, but it's hard to deny the value packed into this set. If you're looking for packs that are fun to open and offer a good chance at high-value pulls, the Pokémon 151 booster bundle remains a solid choice. Just be prepared for the premium price set by Amazon.
