RuneScape: Dragonwilds Early Access Livestream
Early Access Available Now!
RuneScape: Dragonwilds has officially entered early access, announced during a special livestream on April 16. Developer Jagex revealed that the game is now accessible on Steam, astonishing fans who were only recently introduced to the game through its wishlist opening on April 1 and its first gameplay teaser on April 2. Although the game was first mentioned in 2022, it wasn't until late 2024 that alpha testing signups for this new survival game in the RuneScape universe began. The game's official reveal as RuneScape: Dragonwilds occurred on March 31, 2025.
Estimated Official Release Date in Early 2026

Jagex has set their sights on an early 2026 release for Dragonwilds. The developers are committed to delivering a polished and engaging experience, as emphasized by Jagex Executive Producer Jesse America. He stated, "We want to spend the time to get everything right to make sure that our players get a complete, satisfying experience that you’ll want to revisit with friends again and again." Dragonwilds aims to offer a fresh take on the RuneScape universe, and the early access phase marks the beginning of an exciting journey.
Jesse America added, "Throughout Early Access, we’ll be updating the game regularly with new content and features, while listening closely to the community to deliver an iconic open world survival crafting game that is loved equally by our biggest RuneScape fans and new players alike."
Early Access Roadmap Revealed

Jagex unveiled an ambitious roadmap for Dragonwilds' early access period, outlining the exciting updates players can anticipate. A highlight is the introduction of the Fellhollow region, a mystical area suspended between life and death, ruled by the soul-eater dragon Imaru. This region is influenced by the wild anima of Ashenfall and the cursed energy of the Underworld. Players will embark on this journey alongside the iconic RuneScape character, Death, and encounter new quests, lore, gear, and music. Additionally, new skills for magic, ranged, and farming will enhance gameplay.
The roadmap also promises new enemy types, such as Lesser Dragons, along with dragon slayer gear, a hardcore mode, a creative mode, and numerous other enhancements. While specific release dates for these updates remain undisclosed, Jagex assured continuous improvements throughout the early access phase.
Early Access Rewards

Players who jump into Dragonwilds during its early access period will be rewarded with exclusive in-game items. As detailed on the game's Steam page, "Early Adopters" will receive:
- Pioneer’s Scarf
- Pioneer’s Tapestry
- Pioneer’s Cape
- 2 pieces of music from the game
RuneScape: Dragonwilds is now available for early access on PC for $29.99. Jagex has confirmed that the price will increase upon the game's full release. All updates during the early access period will be free, though future post-launch content may be offered as paid DLC.
