The ambitious GTA 6 mapping initiative has entered high gear following Trailer 2's release, with a leading member telling IGN: "This completely transforms our roadmap for the coming months."
The dedicated GTA 6 Mapping Discord community (now approaching 400 members) is actively analyzing Trailer 2's wealth of new geographical details.
"We're processing an incredible volume of new data—this fundamentally reshapes our project timeline," explained Garza, the Discord moderator. "Our team now has fresh material to work through, and we're just beginning to dive in."
This mapping project originated after the massive September 2022 leaks (which some speculate Rockstar subtly acknowledged in Trailer 2's opening). Their mission: constructing the most precise possible representation of GTA 6's world, previously relying on those leaks and December 2023's initial trailer.
The current GTA 6 map version (published in March by project leader DuPz0r) has already been rendered obsolete by Trailer 2's treasure trove of geographical details that will yield more accurate renderings.

Beyond confirming narrative elements and characters—plus releasing 70 new screenshots—Rockstar unveiled key locations within Leonida (GTA 6's Florida-inspired setting).
Officially revealed locales include Vice City (their Miami counterpart), the tropical Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga near the northern state border.
Dedicated mappers will meticulously analyze each frame to pinpoint exact positions and match fictional locations with their real-world inspirations. Once completed, DuPz0r will publish an updated map—potentially offering fans their clearest preview yet of GTA 6's world ahead of its May 2026 launch.
The team stands ready to revisit their work should Rockstar release additional assets—particularly when gameplay footage eventually surfaces. The ultimate accuracy test will come only after launch, when their fan-made creation can be compared to the actual game world.

The project operates under the shadow of potential intervention from Take-Two Interactive. In March, a modder recreating GTA 6's map within GTA 5 abandoned their project after receiving a takedown notice—that mod had utilized this mapping project's data.
When previously questioned about Take-Two's potential response, Garza acknowledged "some cautious apprehension."
"Our community has operated undisturbed for an extended period," Garza elaborated. "We deliberately avoid displaying leaked assets directly in our maps, which may explain their tolerance. I suspect they recognize our project generates positive anticipation for the game. That said, should we receive legal notice, I would comply immediately. As our accuracy improves, the likelihood of intervention may increase."
While awaiting further developments, our coverage continues with all confirmed GTA 6 details and community theories sparked by Trailer 2.
