The Heart System
Access your relationship status with each NPC via the in-game menu's heart tab. This displays friendship levels (hearts) earned. Reaching heart milestones unlocks special events, recipes, and dialogue options. However, the heart meter only partially reflects friendship progression.
Understanding Friendship Points
Each heart requires 250 friendship points. Points are earned (or lost) through various interactions. Positive actions increase points, while neglect or negative actions decrease them.
Boosting Friendship Gains
Acquire the "Friendship 101" book (ninth Prize Machine prize, or a rare Bookseller find in Year 3). This grants a permanent 10% friendship point bonus. Note: This bonus doesn't affect friendship point deductions.
Interaction Point Values
- Daily Conversations: +20 points (or +10 if the villager is busy). Ignoring a villager results in a -2 point penalty daily (-10 if you've given them a bouquet, -20 for your spouse).
- Bulletin Board Deliveries: +150 points with the recipient.
