During Sony's State of Play 2025, the gaming world was treated to the debut trailer of Tides of Annihilation, a single-player, narrative-driven action-adventure game developed by Eclipse Glow Games. The game promises an exhilarating mix of "intense, breakneck combat, an immersive narrative, and an unforgettable setting." Set in a modern-day London ravaged by mystical otherworldly forces, players step into the shoes of Gwendolyn, exploring the city's iconic landmarks while combating enemies inspired by the Arthurian mythos.
In Tides of Annihilation, players can summon spectral Knights of the Round Table to aid in battle, facing off against gigantic bosses that tower like skyscrapers over the landscape. The game's setting offers a unique blend of the familiar and the fantastical, reimagining Arthurian legends with themes of courage, loyalty, and heroism intertwined in an epic narrative.
Eclipse Glow Games, the studio behind Tides of Annihilation, is a fresh entity based in Chengdu, China, backed by the investment giant Tencent. The studio boasts a team of over 100 developers, each with prior experience in renowned franchises like Yakuza, For Honor, Assassin’s Creed, Persona, and Prince of Persia. Kun Fu, Lead Game Producer at Eclipse Glow Games, expressed the team's excitement about the game's debut at Sony's State of Play, marking it as a significant milestone while hinting at even more to come.
"Debuting Tides of Annihilation at Sony State of Play is an incredible, humbling accomplishment for the Eclipse Glow development team," said Kun Fu. "It’s also just the beginning. We’ve created a world that reimagines Arthurian Legend where themes of courage, loyalty, and heroism intertwine with an epic story set in a strange-yet-familiar setting that will test the mettle of true gamers and push the genre forward."
