For completionists playing Pokemon TCG Pocket, the Promo Card section is usually a satisfyingly short list to complete. However, the enigmatic Promo Card 008 is currently causing frustration for many players.
The Promo Card section appeared complete until, around January 2025, a new, unobtainable card, Promo Card 008, materialized between Professor Oak (007) and Pikachu (009) in the Promo – A Card Dex. While its existence might have been present earlier, it only recently became visible as a blank slot. This has left players eager to learn how to acquire it.
Although currently unobtainable, investigating reveals its design. Accessing the "Related Cards" section for cards like Red Card (006) or Pokedex (004) shows a greyed-out version of Promo Card 008. This card features an alternate art Pokedex surrounded by Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
The card's information confirms its unowned status and notes it will be "obtained from a campaign," similar to the New Year 2025 Pikachu card (Promo 026). This differs from cards acquired through missions or Wonder Pick events, suggesting a promotional giveaway.
The exact timing and method of obtaining Pokemon TCG Pocket Promo Card 008 remain unknown. For players bothered by the empty slot, the option to hide unowned cards can be toggled off in the game's settings.
