Unlike previous Dynasty Warriors titles where players controlled numerous characters, each with unique weapons, Dynasty Warriors: Origins features a single protagonist who unlocks a diverse arsenal. This guide details how to acquire each weapon.
Weapon Acquisition in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
While earlier games linked weapons to specific characters and move sets, Dynasty Warriors: Origins streamlines this by allowing weapon switching. The journey begins with a sword, and additional weapons are earned by defeating specific enemy officers during missions. All nine primary weapons are obtainable before completing Chapter 3, though the exact timing depends on which officers are defeated. To ensure timely acquisition, follow this guide:
- Sword: Starting weapon.
- Spear: Acquired after completing the Battle of Guangyang in Chapter 1 (requires purchase for story progression).
- Gauntlets: Earned by defeating Zhou Cang in the Battle of Guangzong, Chapter 1.
- Wheels: Obtained by defeating Zhang Ju during the Suppression of You Province in Chapter 2.
- Podao: This weapon is carried by multiple officers in the Subjugation of the White Wave Bandits (Chapter 2). Defeat any one of them to unlock it.
- Staff: Found within a secret passage and treasure chamber during the Assassination of Dong Zhuo (Chapter 2). Defeat the officer guarding it.
- Twin Pike: Earned by defeating Zhang Liao in the Battle of Hulao Gate, Chapter 2.
- Lance: This requires defeating an officer wielding the Lance in the Battle of Xu Province. Since players can ally with either Cao Cao or Liu Bei, the target officer will be on the opposing side.
- Crescent Blade: Unlocked sometime in Chapter 3 after aligning with a specific faction. The exact mission varies depending on player choices, but acquisition occurs before chapter completion.
A final weapon, the halberd, awaits after completing the main campaign. Defeating Lu Bu in the Battle of Hulao Gate unlocks this powerful weapon, often considered the game's best.
