Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions, Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced plans for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel, building on the phenomenal success of the 2023 best-selling Harry Potter action RPG.
Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed development plans for a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy, the record-breaking Harry Potter game that sold over 24 million copies in 2023. During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels highlighted the sequel as a top priority for the company, stating (as reported by Variety) that it represents "a significant growth contribution" to their future plans. He projected the sequel's release for "a couple of years down the road."
Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad previously emphasized the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success. In an earlier interview with Variety, Haddad noted the high number of players who revisited the game multiple times. Beyond sales figures and replay value, Haddad highlighted the game's ability to bring the Harry Potter world to life in a fresh and engaging way for gamers, allowing players to experience the story as themselves. This resonated powerfully with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts, a position typically held by established franchises' sequels. Haddad expressed pride in breaking into the top ranks.
