Rummy 500 (also known as Persian Rummy, Pinochle Rummy, 500 Rum, or 500 Rummy) is a popular variation of Rummy. While similar to standard Rummy, it is distinguished by a key rule: players may draw more than just the top card from the discard pile.

Under the most common Rummy 500 rules, players earn points for cards melded into sets or sequences. Conversely, players lose points for any unmatched cards (deadwood) left in their hand when another player goes out.

Game Rules:

• The game is typically played by 2 to 4 players.

• A single deck including jokers is used.

• Each player is dealt 7 cards.

• The primary objective is to be the first player to reach a total score of 500 points.

• If multiple players reach or exceed 500 in the same round, only the player with the highest total score is declared the winner.

• You must form valid sets and sequences. A set consists of 3 or 4 cards of the same rank. A sequence consists of 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit. Scoring in Rummy 500 is based on calculating the values of all cards within these completed melds.

• Each turn involves drawing a card to begin and discarding a card to end.

• During your turn, you have a third option: to lay down a new meld or add cards to an existing meld (yours or an opponent's). Adding to another player's meld is known as building.

• Jokers act as wild cards and can substitute for any other card in a set or sequence.

• You may pick up multiple cards from the discard pile, but you must immediately use the bottommost card you picked up in a meld.

• Any cards taken from the discard pile must be used to form a meld in that same turn, or the move is invalid.

• All face cards (King, Queen, Jack) are worth 10 points. An Ace can be worth 11 points in a meld, but carries a 15-point penalty if held unmelded. A Joker assumes the point value of the card it replaces and also incurs a 15-point penalty if held in hand.

• The game consists of multiple rounds.

• Scores from each round accumulate. The game concludes when any player's total score reaches or surpasses the 500-point target, making them the winner.

• The game ends upon reaching the target score. In case of a tie, a playoff round determines the pot winner.
