Persona 4 Golden: Master the Uncanny Enigma

Quick Links

Encountering Golden Hands in Persona 4 Golden is a common occurrence in various dungeon areas, both in the overworld and lurking within chests. These formidable foes progressively increase in strength with each dungeon, consistently posing a significant challenge.

Despite their difficulty, defeating Golden Hands yields substantial experience points (XP), making the effort worthwhile. Happiness Hands, the Golden Hands found in Yukiko's Castle, present an early-game obstacle. Here's a breakdown of how to overcome them.

Happiness Hand Affinities in Persona 4 Golden

Happiness Hands exhibit strong resistance to all elemental attacks.

The key to defeating Happiness Hands lies in exploiting their vulnerability to physical damage. While Almighty attacks are typically effective against Golden Hands, this strategy isn't feasible early in the game. Happiness Hands inflict minimal damage and may even remain idle during their turns, but they'll flee at the first opportunity.

A weakness exploit or critical hit will trigger their escape. When facing multiple Happiness Hands, prioritize targeting a single enemy, as defeating even one before they flee is a considerable achievement.

Strategies for Defeating Happiness Hands in Persona 4 Golden

The most effective approach involves fusing the Persona Orobas, which possesses the Hysterical Slap skill. This skill boasts a double-hit capability and a small chance of inflicting the Rage status effect. A Raged Happiness Hand will continuously use its basic attack, preventing its escape. Orobas can be fused using:

  • Apsaras + Forneus
  • Apsaras + Slime

Before engaging Happiness Hands, ensure your party is fully healed. Concentrate on using physical attacks that consume HP and avoid other actions. Utilize Yosuke's Sonic Punch, Chie's Skull Cracker, and the protagonist's Hysterical Slap repeatedly.

Success in this battle hinges heavily on luck due to limited early-game options. However, defeating even one Happiness Hand provides significant experience point gains for your party at low levels.

Crucially, avoid using an All-Out Attack unless a kill is guaranteed; otherwise, the Happiness Hand will recover and flee.
