Lenovo has opened up preorders for its highly anticipated 2025 model, the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 gaming laptop. Packed with top-tier technology, this laptop features the latest Intel processor and Nvidia graphics card, alongside a stunning high-resolution OLED display. It also comes with substantial RAM and SSD storage right out of the box. Although still officially in the preorder phase, the Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 is already shipping out, with delivery expected as early as late April.

The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i is equipped with a 16" 2560x1600 240Hz OLED display, an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and 2TB (2x1TB) of SSD storage. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX offers significantly more power than the Core Ultra 9 185H found in previous flagship laptops, which focused more on energy efficiency rather than being a direct successor to the i9-14900HX. This new processor pairs excellently with the GeForce RTX 5080 mobile GPU.
The Legion Pro 7i also boasts other cutting-edge features like WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support, USB Type-C with up to 140W of Power Delivery, Thunderbolt 4 with DisplayPort 2.1 (40Gbps), and a USB Type-A port with USB 3.2 Gen 2 specifications. It retains the increasingly rare RJ45 ethernet port and includes a privacy shutter for the webcam. The chassis, crafted from aluminum and magnesium, ensures durability and a premium feel.
Although we haven't tested Lenovo's latest Legion Pro 7i Gen 10, we have reviewed a gaming laptop with the RTX 5080 GPU. The RTX 5080 offers only a slight improvement over the RTX 4080 in raw rasterized performance but significantly excels in games that support DLSS 4.0 with multi-frame generation. The Gigabyte Aorus Master laptop, equipped with an RTX 5080 and a 150W TGP rating alongside a 2560x1600 display, showed performance levels that the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, with its identical TGP rating and resolution, is expected to match in gaming scenarios.

"Here's the thing: Nvidia hasn't been shy about tying the 50-series to its AI capabilities rather than pure native rendering performance. Although the RTX 5080's performance is disappointingly close to the RTX 4080, this difference vanishes when playing games that support multi-frame generation. While 'fake frames' have become a bit of a meme, the fact is that when it works, it's quite remarkable and dramatically improves performance. This varies from game to game based on how well it handles latency. For example, Alan Wake 2 tends to feel a bit more laggy at higher multiplier settings, while Cyberpunk 2077 does not. With technologies like multi-frame generation and neural shaders coming to future games, there’s a compelling case for investing in these future technologies. However, you're buying into a promise while Nvidia and game developers work to add support to new and existing games."
