Jack Quaid Eyes Bioshock Role Amid Max Payne Comparisons in Novocaine

May 06,2025 Author: Peyton

Jack Quaid, star of the hit series *The Boys*, has expressed his enthusiasm for the possibility of appearing in a *BioShock* movie, citing the game as one of his all-time favorites. During a Reddit AMA, which coincided with the release of his latest film *Novocaine*, Quaid highlighted the rich lore of *BioShock* as a prime candidate for adaptation into a TV series or movie. "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of *BioShock* - one of my favorite games of all time," he stated, emphasizing the depth of the game's universe that could be explored on screen.

However, the realization of a *BioShock* film remains uncertain. Last July, producer Roy Lee mentioned that the project had undergone a "reconfiguration" due to leadership changes at Netflix, aiming for a "more personal" approach. This shift was necessitated by reduced budgets, as noted by Lee: "The new regime has lowered the budgets. So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project." Despite these changes, *Hunger Games* director Francis Lawrence remains attached to direct the film, though plot details remain under wraps.

In the same Reddit session, Quaid acknowledged his striking resemblance to the video game character Max Payne, whose likeness is based on Remedy writer Sam Lake. Fans have even speculated that Quaid's new action movie *Novocaine* might be a covert *Max Payne* adaptation due to the visual similarities. Quaid admitted to the resemblance but confessed his unfamiliarity with the game, stating, "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take. I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."

Beyond *BioShock*, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware's challenging games. He shared his journey through their titles, saying, "I'm a huge video game nerd. And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat *Bloodborne*, then I beat *Sekiro*, and now I'm going full boar into *Elden Ring*. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
