In June 2022, Sony launched its revamped PlayStation Plus, which is now structured into three distinct tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. This service provides subscribers with access to an extensive library of games spanning the rich history of PlayStation, including titles from the PS1 and PSP eras. PS Plus not only honors the brand's legacy but also caters to a wide variety of gaming genres, from horror and platformers to RPGs and strategy games. Notably, the service also boasts a robust selection of open-world games.
For those in search of PlayStation exclusives or popular third-party titles, PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers are likely to meet most gaming needs. With such a vast array of options, deciding where to begin can be daunting, especially when it comes to open-world games. Fortunately, PS Plus offers an extensive range of these, covering genres like first-person shooters, survival games, and role-playing experiences. In this article, we will explore some of the best open-world games available on PS Plus.
It's important to note that while all the open-world games listed here are accessible through PS Plus Premium, not all are included in the Extra tier.
The rankings of these games are not solely based on their quality. Instead, new additions to the service will be highlighted first, ensuring that the latest offerings get the spotlight they deserve.
Updated on January 13, 2025, by Mark Sammut: The January 2025 lineup for PS Plus Essential includes a highly debated open-world game. Although it may not appeal to everyone, this title is noteworthy during its availability period.
