High-end pre-built PCs often come with hefty price tags, but savvy shoppers can still snag significant savings. Dell currently offers an Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC featuring a GeForce RTX 4090 for just $2,899.99—a $1,000 discount. This marks the first sub-$3,000 RTX 4090 gaming PC deal in months, a noteworthy find considering the recent resurgence in RTX 4090 prices. Purchasing a standalone RTX 4090 card now costs at least $2,000, making a pre-built option surprisingly cost-effective, especially considering the included comprehensive warranty.

This Alienware Aurora R16 boasts an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th-gen Intel Core i9-14900KF is currently Intel's top gaming CPU, excelling in both gaming and productivity tasks. While known for running warm, it's effectively cooled by a robust 240mm AIO liquid cooler. The system is powered by a reliable 1000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
The RTX 4090 remains the market's most powerful GPU, outperforming all competitors from both NVIDIA and AMD. As Chris Coke noted in his RTX 4090 review, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but it delivers unparalleled frame rates...even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable." Expect smooth 4K gaming at ultra settings with ray tracing enabled, even on the most demanding titles like *Black Myth: Wukong* or *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*. Its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM also makes it ideal for AI applications.
NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5000 series GPUs, launching late January, promise even greater performance. However, the RTX 5090's expected $2,000 price tag (Founder's Edition) and potential availability issues make the current RTX 4090 deal more attractive. The RTX 5080, priced at $999, may also face availability challenges and features less VRAM (16GB vs 24GB) than the 4090, likely falling short of replacing it as the top performer.
The R16, Alienware's 2024 desktop design, is 40% smaller than previous models. Its efficient airflow design—drawing air through side and front intakes and exhausting through rear and top fans—houses a 240mm AIO liquid cooler radiator. While some configurations omit liquid cooling, we generally recommend it due to its superior performance over stock air cooling. Note that Dell's new Area 51 chassis (announced at CES 2025) shares a similar design to the R16.
