I'm a voracious reader who always has a book on the go. While I have other interests, reading is by far my most accessible hobby, thanks largely to my Kindle. I've owned a Kindle Paperwhite for nearly a year and use it every single day. The ability to read comfortably at night with its soft, built-in light, combined with the sheer ease of instantly starting the next book in a series, makes my Kindle one of my most cherished pieces of technology.
The primary drawback of a Kindle is the initial purchase cost. The latest models carry a significant price tag, and Amazon rarely offers substantial discounts on the devices themselves. That's why the current sale is such a compelling opportunity to buy one for yourself or as a gift for a book lover. For a limited time, the Amazon Book Sale includes a 20% discount on the new Kindle Colorsoft.
Lowest Price We've Seen
$279.99 save 20% $224.99 at Amazon
The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition launched in October 2024 as a vibrant alternative to the standard models. Most of the best Kindles are monochrome, which is perfect for text-based books but less ideal for digital comics and graphic novels. As the newest model, it typically retails for $279.99, but this discount brings it down to its lowest price ever.
Along with the discount, you can opt to bundle your new Kindle with three free months of Kindle Unlimited. This gives you unrestricted access to the entire subscription catalog, which features everything from popular LitRPG titles to a wide selection of graphic novels. You can also decline the free trial and pay the same price. The ongoing Amazon book sale features many other deals, including discounts on Kindle ebooks.
Save up to 60%. Shop at Amazon
The Kindle Colorsoft is a significant investment, even with this discount. If you're looking for a Kindle but want to stick to a budget, other models are worth considering. I'm personally a big fan of both the standard Kindle and the Kindle Paperwhite. The latest versions of both devices feature adjustable lighting and a Dark Mode, making them excellent for reading in any setting.
Our Top Recommendation
The Kindle Paperwhite offers an experience similar to reading a physical book, but with the benefit of a built-in light. View it on Amazon
These specific Kindle models are ideal for traditional books, however. If your main goal is to read digital comics, the Colorsoft is the superior option. That said, if you're open to brands beyond Kindle, there are other capable reading tablets available that can do the same job for a much lower cost.
