Assassin’s Creed Shadows Expansion Details Leaked on Steam

Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Leaks on Steam

Details regarding the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, tentatively titled "Claws of Awaji," have surfaced via a now-removed Steam update, according to reports from Insider Gaming. This leak follows the game's recent delay to March 20, 2025.

The upcoming title, set in 16th-century feudal Japan, marks the franchise's first foray into East Asia. Players will control dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi, as they navigate a turbulent period in Japanese history. Despite significant anticipation, the game's development has been plagued by setbacks, including negative feedback and multiple delays.

The leaked Steam update revealed that "Claws of Awaji" will introduce a new region for players to explore, alongside a new weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities. The expansion is projected to add over 10 hours of gameplay to the main title. Furthermore, the leak suggests that pre-ordering Assassin's Creed Shadows will grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.

Delayed Release and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

This DLC leak comes on the heels of another delay announcement, pushing the game's release from its previously scheduled February 14, 2025, date. Ubisoft cited the need for further polishing and refinement. This latest postponement, to March 20, 2025, adds to the challenges facing Ubisoft Quebec.

The timing of this leak coincides with broader uncertainty surrounding Ubisoft's future, fueled by rumors of a potential acquisition by Tencent. This speculation follows a period of underperformance for several major Ubisoft titles, including XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws, raising questions about the company's overall trajectory.
