Get ready to travel back in time... metaphorically speaking, of course. Believe it or not, we're actually stepping outside the pizzeria. The first trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 has arrived, and it’s packed with exciting reveals. The biggest news? The Freddy’s animatronics are breaking free from Fazbear’s Pizza in this sequel, bringing their brand of terror into the outside world.
But the roaming animatronics aren't the only highlight of this sneak peek. After its debut on the film's first poster, we now have a better look at the FazTalker. This toy looks like a hybrid between a two-way radio and a classic Fisher-Price children’s boombox. It seems to be working exactly as fans guessed: it lets spirits communicate with the living.
Interestingly, the spirits aren't trying to reach Mike, played by Josh Hutcherson. Instead, they’re attempting to connect with his younger sister, Abby. For those who missed the first film, Abby formed a unique bond with the souls inside the animatronics. The trailer shows the spirits asking for her help, and it looks like Abby, Mike, and his police officer friend Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) are ready to answer. That said, this plea for help could easily be a trap, possibly orchestrated by Matthew Lillard’s William Afton, even if he's believed to be dead.
Fans also catch a brief look at the Withered animatronics, with Withered Bonnie—also called Faceless Bonnie—taking center stage in all his terrifying glory. Since Withered Bonnie was the primary antagonist in the second FNAF game, it makes sense for the movie to follow that storyline.
One of the most entertaining moments comes at the end of the trailer. Mike discovers a Freddy mask in the pizzeria's office. Veteran players will know this should help him remain undetected when the animatronics roam at night. "There's no way this'll work," Mike mutters, just as Chica and Withered Bonnie move in for an attack.
Overall, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is shaping up to be a thrilling sequel that appears to stay true to the second game. Rather than straying too far from fan expectations, it seems to embrace its source material—a move that could pay off if everything falls into place.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is scheduled for release in theaters on December 5, 2025.
